About this piece

Here's proof that the platinum and white gold bar pin craze of the 1920s-30s Art Deco period had antecedents dating from Victorian times, such as this exceptionally striking example. Measuring a quite conspicuous three inches long, it is artfully hand fabricated in three distinct layers of velvety 12K yellow gold. The elegantly elongated navette shape top is overlaid with leaves and stems, and the second layer is colored in turquoise and white enamel 'petals', while the supporting layer presents a delicately beaded frame culminating at both ends with fancy terminals adorned with ultra-fine decorative granulation. A beauty. Circa 1885.
