Victorian Mosaic Glass Earring and Brooch Set

Whenever we think we've seen every kind of Victorian jewelry design imaginable, along comes something like this. We can only muse upon what might have inspired it. Was it an emblem for an unrealized Victorian superhero or just a cool, colorful, and utterly unique geometric composition - in a set, no less? The base of both the earrings and brooch is glass masquerading as agate surrounded by 14K gold frames decorated with twisted wire and granulation. The eye-catching centers appear to be inlaid glass, including goldstone glass, that creates the, um, mosaic of the superhero symbol/novel creation. A uniquity for the bold and the brave. Hand fabricated in 14K yellow gold, circa late-19th century.
