About this piece
A beautifully framed work of art ready for display on your ensemble. The subject is rendered using a very fine type of enameling called Limoges (applied by painting the enamel on a metal surface), and appears (happily) tasked with feeding a basket of baby birds. A curling ribbon embellished with old mine-cut diamonds and shimmering emerald-green enamel loops around luminous natural pearls, creating a strikingly contrasting frame for this utterly unique Victorian jewel. Total diamond weight, .65 carat. Hand fabricated in 18K yellow gold (the oval rear frame is 14K yellow gold). The portrait is backed with mother-of-pearl. Condition note: the center piece has small chips on the edge.
