About this necklace
It's well established that Victorians were a sentimental sort, their jewelry featuring all manner of symbolic elements. This charming pendant/brooch shines with a diamond-set, ruby-eyed swallow—a symbol of love, loyalty, and a safe return home (particularly for sailors and their loved ones). With wings spread, he appears to fly through a wreath of natural pearl-centered 'flowers' with emerald petals interspersed by bright blue sapphires, and is happy to represent whatever he means to you. Hand fabricated in silver over 18K gold, circa turn-of-the-20th-century, it suspends from an 18K gold chain that measures 16 inches (total length of necklace is 16 5/8, including the width of the pendant).
