About this bracelet
Stacking (or two-wristed) bangles are nothing new; stylish Victorians were quite fond of multiple wrist wraps. Case in point, this rare matching set, most likely originally intended as wedding bracelets. Intricately hand engraved, creating a tactile texture, they are embellished all around with a garland-esque design artfully accented with flowers and garters in black enamel tracery (also known as taille d'epargne). A wedding garter historically symbolized good luck, fertility, and a bride's virginity. Today, it primarily represents tradition, intimacy, and romance. A double dose of beauty and sentiment. Hand fabricated in 15K gold (hence of British origin), each hinged oval-shaped bangle measures 6 inches. Circa 1880, in pristine condition.
