Measuring a striking 1 and 7/8 inch long, this stunning teardrop-shaped jewel, intricately hand fabricated in platinum around the first or second decade of the twentieth century, centers on a beautiful bright and shining European-cut diamond, weighing 1.70 carats (presenting significantly larger than the actual weight). The scintillating stone radiates from within a floating bezel-setting lavishly embellished all around with a graceful hand pierced design studded throughout with an array of small glittering European-cut diamonds--bringing the total diamond weight of the pendant to 2.45 carats. Here's another intriguing detail--this captivating creation is backed in glossy black onyx for a heightened and dramatic effect. The 18-inch long platinum and diamond chain (3.25 carats total weight) is a later addition. When not out on the town, this fabulous jewel resides in a well-worn box from Philadelphia's finest jeweler of yesteryear, J.E. Caldwell.
