About this ring

'The pearl of the Indian Ocean' is one of the nicknames given to Sri Lanka, in part because of the precious gemstones mined in the country. One of those stones is on glorious display in this striking Belle Epoque ring—a glistening 2.67-carat deep cornflower-blue sapphire. The color-drenched stone is accented, in bold contrast, by a pair of chunky old mine-cut diamonds with sparkling attitudes, and supported by dramatically split shoulders, each featuring a slender leaf that extends to a side prong. Enchanting. Total diamond weight, .70 carat. Hand fabricated in 18K yellow gold and platinum (diamond settings) post 1912, it is currently ring size 7 1/4+. GIA Gemological Report states: Heated. Sri Lanka origin.
