About this necklace
Ooh, what is that? While rubies, diamonds, emeralds, and sapphires are readily recognizable, this rare gem—kornerupine—catches the eye and piques curiosity. Named after the geologist, Andreas Nikolaus Kornerupine, who first discovered it in Greenland in 1884, kornerupine occurs in metamorphic rocks and is associated with other minerals such as garnet and kyanite. The 6.00 carat stone that suspends from the 16-inch chain of this estate necklace is imbued with a smoky-ochre hue (with a trace of sage green) and is accented by a single .26 carat European-cut diamond. Neckline intrigue. Crafted in 14K yellow gold.
