Rare and utterly mesmerizing, black opals have been called the “Gem of Lightning and Shadows.” The one in this estate ring, with its deep, dark body color, electrifies with hues of iridescent greens and blues, enhanced in striking contrast by a halo of icy white, round brilliant-cut diamonds. Held by split prongs, the fascinating gem is also supported by split shoulders that shimmer with round brilliants and by a fanciful undergallery of openwork hearts. Sometimes, it's good to be struck by lightning. Total diamond weight, .44 carat. In 14K yellow gold, it is currently ring size 6 1/2.
