About this piece

A wreath, a bow, icy white diamonds set in platinum. Just about every exquisitely elegant element characteristic of Edwardian-era jewelry is on stunning display in this utterly alluring and decidedly unique brooch measuring a quite conspicuous 4 3/8 inches long. Beginning at the top, a laurel wreath frosted with single-cut diamonds is crowned by a bright bezel-set European-cut diamond and is centered--in bold contrast-- by a dangling cabochon black opal strikingly colored with vivid hues of iridescent blue and green. Glittering below is a gracefully looping bow with cascading strands of bezel-set European-cut diamonds (the largest weighing 1.45 carats) that join to a swirling diamond-set circle that frames an opal drop. Truly a jewel like no other and a most captivating collectible. Total diamond weight - 7.60 carats, total opal weight - 4.86 carats. Hand fabricated in platinum during the first or second decade of the twentieth century. *The twin opals replace an original pair of very pricey large diamonds.
