About this piece

Both a horological and jewelry masterpiece, this extraordinary Art Deco watch by Ahlers & Co. (portrayed on the series The Gilded Age as a company established by an aspiring footman-turned-watchmaker) is brimming with exquisite details—and diamonds. The watch and its case were produced by watchmaker and Titanic survivor, Henry Blank. Octagonal in shape and engraved on the sides, the top of the case is deeply pierced to create a navette shape that surrounds the face of the watch and shimmers all over with single-cut diamonds, while a single rose-cut diamond glints atop the crown. Adding intriguing detail, the numerals on the face have an uncommon orientation, with the 'XII' positioned directly to the left of the crown. The bracelet is composed of expandable links, intricately hand-engraved on their tops and sides, and two of them, which connect to the case, are set with diamonds. The reverse is engraved with a floral motif and bears the initials, "MKW." A rare and ravishing collectible. Total diamond weight, .75 carat. Hand fabricated in platinum, it has a Swiss 18-jewel movement and expands from 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 inches.
