Art Deco Diamond and Emerald-Green Glass Dinner Ring

After Prohibition ended, cocktail parties at speakeasies transitioned into more elegant—and less risque—dinner parties, and the requisite jewel transitioned accordingly: enter the dinner ring. Lying low on the finger and usually having a north-to-south orientation, these glamorous jewels sizzled up and down with scintillating diamonds. In this one, a center trio of European-cut diamonds, embraced by crescents of bright green calibre emerald colored glass (original to the piece and the period), is fabulously accented north and south by irrepressibly sparkling larger European-cuts. Smaller stones twinkle all over the finely pierced surround that leads to a shank engraved with an elegant neoclassical design, while millegrain edging adds subtle textured detail. Elevate dinnertime or any time. Total diamond weight, 1.15 carats. Hand fabricated in platinum, it is currently ring size 6 1/2.
