The 40.00 carat cabochon star sapphire in this arresting Art Deco ring—imbued with a cool violet-blue hue and softly diffused asterism (the star phenomenon) —sits high above its bright platinum shank, held by four prominent prongs and supported by striking vertical shoulders, each set with a single icy-white baguette diamond. Mesmerizing. Total diamond weight, .50 carat. Hand fabricated in platinum, circa 1920s-30s, it is currently ring size 7 1/2.
