About this ring

The Ancient Greeks--they contributed so much to world art history: fresco painting, exquisite sculpture, iconic architecture. While you might not recall the difference between a Doric and a Corinthian column, just about everyone is familiar with the Greek key, or Meandros design. The highly recognizable pattern is a continuous line that repeatedly folds back on itself, mimicking the ancient Meander River of Asia Minor. The design is used with great effect in this strikingly stunning Art Deco ring. Centered with a scintillating 1.00 carat European-cut diamond, the sizable octagonal top (just shy of an inch across) is decorated with seamlessly-set calibre sapphires set with in the triangular key pattern between offset diamond-studded "spokes." The under gallery is hand pierced creating a complimentary openwork key motif, and small glittering old-mine cut diamonds on the shoulders add the finishing flourish. A masterpiece for your finger. Handle with care--not for everyday wear. Total diamond weight, 1.60 carats; total sapphire weight, 1.15 carats. Hand fabricated in platinum, circa 1920s, currently ring size 8.
