About this ring
The marquise diamond dates back to the 18th century, when King Louis XV of France, romantic fellow that he was, commissioned a jeweler to design a diamond shape that resembled the lips of his mistress, Jean Antoinette Poisson. Over time, the lovely lip-shaped cut developed into the elegant navette shape that we recognize today. The marvelous 2.00 carat marquise (of early-20th-century vintage) in this stunning estate ring is ultra clear and dazzles with its exceedingly white (F) color and an exceptional cut that scintillates with flashes of sparkling light. Floating inside a halo of tiny round brilliant cuts accented with larger round brilliants, the stone crowns a ribbed ring shank with elegant diamond-set shoulders. Like no other. Total diamond weight, 2.40 carats. Accompanied by a GIA grading report stating: F color, VS1 clarity. Fabricated in platinum, currently ring size 6.
